The Inland Waterways Association National Festival & Boat Show

27th until 29th August

The Inland Waterways Association (IWA) today announced that their 2010 National Festival would be held at Beale Park on the River Thames at Pangbourne, near Reading over August Bank Holiday weekend. .

The 2010 National Festival also coincides with the centenary of the birth of one of The Inland Waterways Association’s founders - Tom Rolt. L T C Rolt met with Robert Aickman and others at a historic meeting in August of 1945, at Tardebigge Lock, on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. This meeting led to the formation of The Inland Waterways Association in the following year.

IWA’s National Festival brings hundreds of exhibitors and visiting boats as well as thousands of visitors to an area, offering a great day out for families as well as raising the profile of the waterways with local authorities and business communities.
